Ronda, the mountains and a day off

Saturday , October 24, 2015

We headed into the mountains to a small town called Ronda.  Another quaint white village (pueblo blanco) with shops and restaurants only set in the mountains with a gorge running through it and aquaduct.  It was a lovely drive with great scenery.  We stopped at a local bar for tapas.  Thankfully we have google translate as no one in the bar spoke English and with our limited Spanish who knows what we would have been eating.  We had fish, wings and calamari.  We drove back to Malaga through Marabella which is a really nice tourist area on the Mediterranean Sea.

Today was a resting day.  We spent the morning hanging out in the condo and had lunch of paella (a spanish dish with rice, veggies and meat) at a restaurant along the beach.  Then we thought we had better try to find out where to return the rental car and find the train station since we will be doing that early in the morning on Thursday.  We are sooo glad we did this as our gps, gypsy, took us in the wrong direction.  We even found ourselves driving into a plaza on a sidewalk where a taxi driver took pity on us and showed us the way out of the plaza.  It probably wouldn't have been too bad had it not been Sunday with all of the locals, tourists and three huge cruise ships of people milling about.   Needless to say it was packed with people.  Time for cocktails and preparing dinner.
