Yesterday we spent the day waiting to get on the ferry then riding (5 hours) the ferry to Newfoundland. It was an easy ride. We saw dolphins and whales on the trip over. Pilot and Minke whales to be exact.
Before we got on the ferry we had to turn off the refrigerator. We used it as an ice box getting a bag of ice from Wal-Mart where we boondocked the night before and stuck it in the freezer, worked beautifully.
We met several people on the boat who had ties to Newfoundland. One couple was going to a relatives wedding and he told us all the good food we need to try. He also told us about the people called Newfies. We are excited to met some of the locals while here. We also met a group of native Canadians. They were going to a PowWow for the Mikmac tribe and hinted to us that anyone could attend. They had huge grins on there faces anticipating the festivities of drumming, dancing, singing and feasting. Apparently it's a large potluck where the hosting tribe prepares tons of delicious food.
Stayed at JT Cheeseman Provencial Park last night nice park with waterfalls, beach and nice campground.
Happy Travels! Joni :)
